aphrodite
goddess of love, beauty and pleasure
Welcome to my Aphrodite shrine! I envoked Aphrodite (in my head, unintentionally) and now I'm in love with her (excuse the pun). She is really kind and lovely, and she's a complete advocate of self love and self pleasure. She can help you with all kinds of relationships, not just romantic ones. Here, I'll be sharing ways to honour her.
I hope you enjoy your stay here!

Quick fact file:
Symbols: dolphin, rose, scallop shell, myrtle, dove (her sacred animal), sparrow, mirror, swan
Food: pomegranates, apples, figs, honey, blood oranges, olives, oysters, salt
Colours: pink, red, white, gold
Others: rose quartz, love letters, mint

Things I've learned from Aphrodite:
She doesn't want you to worship her, she simply wants you to incorporate more love into your life, and most importantly to love yourself! She is described as vain, but I'm just assuming those people haven't even talked to her. She just knows she's worthy of her own love. She also will work with you no matter your race, gender or sexuality!
(literally as I was writing the ways to honour her, I saw 11:11 and when I went downstairs, my mum had made us pancakes with strawberries and honey! thank you!!)

Ways to honour Aphrodite:
- putting roses/myrtle on your altar, grow them in your garden or a pot, draw them, use rosewater
- dressing more true to yourself, in my case I've started wearing more dresses because I wasn't confident enough to wear them before
- wear things in her colours (pink, red, white and gold) or colours that are associated with the sea (blue, turquoise etc.)
- shadow work relating to love, your past struggles with love, what you struggle to love about yourself (etc.) - she loves listening to/reading
things that are filled with genuine emotion
- you could also write love letters! to yourself, a loved one, someone who has passed, a pet, a fictional character (... the list goes on!)
- read more romance novels, or just novels with healthy relationships (doesn't have to be romantic)
- visit the ocean, collect shells and seawater for spells, offerings, or just for decoration
- try to eat more aphrodisiacs, such as strawberries or chocolate
- bake pretty treats and enjoy them with loved ones (bonus points if they have apples in them)
- apprieciate your body in the mirror, try different positions, such as standing or sitting, to see how beautiful your body is
- go on a date, with someone or just yourself! going on the 4th of the month honours her, or a friday to honour venus
- random (nsfw), watch/read things that are more loving/intimate, than rough

Aphrodite's origin:
According to Hesiod's theogony, she was born from the foam in the waters of Paphos, on the island of Cyprus, when Cronus slew Uranus and threw his genitals into the sea, which makes sense as the Greek word "aphros" means “foam”. This is also why she's linked with shells and the sea, and also why she was widely worshipped as a goddess of the sea and of seafaring. According to Homer in Iliad, she may have been the daughter of Zeus and Dione.
